5 Steps to Optimising Your Real Estate Website for the Search Engines

If you have a website that offers real estate services and you are not ranked in the top category by the search engines, then you are missing out on potential leads. That was why I listed my top five strategies to optimising your website for the search engines.

Without a basis of relevancy, without backlinks and without social proof, you will be the last to know if your site is moving up in the search engines!

Step 1.

Make sure you are listed with the search engines. Search all the major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ask.com. Having directory listings also helps. Do a search on Google and make sure you are listed with them. It does not cost you anything to be listed with them, so it might be worth your time.

Step 2.

Go to other websites in your market and see who lists your property company in the top 5 or 10. How do you know if they are ranked? The easiest way to see is to search the keywords you want to be ranked for. If you are not on the first page, there is no way you are going to get traffic.

Make sure you use the same keywords on all the pages of your website. You cannot use different keywords for every page on your website. Too many keywords on one page will confuse the search engines and make it difficult to know what the page is about.

Step 3.

Identify the keywords that will drive traffic to your website.Once you have chosen your keywords, you have to make sure you match those keywords to the content on your webpage. You should always write content for your readers and users, not the search engines. You want to focus on getting traffic to your website and getting those visitors to purchase. If you focus on doing this each and every day, you will see the traffic to your website turn into sales!

Step 4.

Take the keywords and optimise your website. You need to focus on at least one keyword phrase per web page. Increase that phrase and focus on the content or the product to make each page sell. Don’t overload your web page with the same keywords. Make sure you are writing for your reader first.

The search engines will sense what your web page is about. The more you focus on improving your web page for your reader, the more you will drive traffic to your website. Take the time to Soon you will be ranking high on the search engines and getting lots of visitors to your website.

Step 5.

Gain trust with the search engines. You have to make the search engines feel like you are an authority in the industry. You do this by providing them what they want. Provide them quality content. Write articles for them and then give them a link. When you build links like this, you are writing for them. The search engines will then recognise your site as an authority and that will help your rankings to improve.

Off-page factors are just as important for your real estate website. If you remove the links to your website from forums and blogs, where do they go? They go to the URL that you enter. So if you want to build trust with the search engines and get top rankings, do the right things for them. align your efforts with the right plan and you will see the results you are looking for.
